“were you born a boy or a girl”

bold of you to assume I was born at all

I personally was created in a lab

Just straight up spawned

the notes….the notes…..majestic abomination…you people, your merry destructive mayhem…this unholy mattress fire…….for fucks sake read the notes

I was retconned into existence to fix a plot hole four years ago.

Phased in through a weak spot in the barrier between this plane of existence and my own.

I’ve died more times than I was born, so it canceled out.

I just crawled out of a hole! Just now 🙂

wow, i see there’re many ways to create a life.

I’m all for fantasy stories where supernatural characters protect their human friends, but does anyone else want some stories where the humans are the ones who are looking after their supernatural friends?

  • A human girl exchanging her silver engagement ring for a cheaper one after she realises why her werewolf friend has been refusing to high five her.
  • A group of humans throwing coats over their vampire friend because he forgot it was the Summer solstice and was caught out by the sunrise. Those same friends coming to visit him when he wakes up in the late afternoon, bringing him blood from the butcher’s and putting up with his whining about the nights getting longer.
  • A human hearing that someone stole their selkie friends pelt and coming over to her new “husband"s house immediately and threatening to punch his lights out unless he tells them where it is.
  • Humans petitioning the counsel to build a wooden climbing frame in the local playground because the old one has iron parts and their fairy friend’s kids can’t use it without burning themselves.

I’ll post more if I can come up with any.

This kinda fits on this blog

Humans getting the local Dryad’s tree and naiad’s pool named as protected landmarks and keeping them clean of trash and litter.

Human mothers raising changelings and other fey and loving them just as much as their own.

When I was 18, and retrieved my medical records from @luriechildrens, I found out four important truths that changed the course of my life. ▫️
1️⃣ I discovered that as a baby I was labeled a male pseudo-hermaphrodite 46XY. This was shocking because I had been assigned female at birth. ▫️
2️⃣ I was born with undescended testes. No one ever told me this truth, instead my doctors lied and told me I was born with “cancerous ovaries” that had to be surgically removed in order to save my life.
▫️
3️⃣ My clitoris was deemed too large (at a mere 1.5 centimeters when stretched) when I was 4 years old, and surgically altered with a medical procedure called a clitorectomy–very similar to #FemaleGenitalMutilation. ▫️
4️⃣ At age 11, I was told by my doctors at Lurie that I needed a surgery on my urethra and bladder, but discovered thanks to retrieving my medical records that they actually gave me a complex vaginoplasty-like surgery instead.
▫️〰️▫️
All of these surgeries were NOT medically necessary, and done without my consent.
▫️〰️▫️
All of this happened, I would find out, because my genitals didn’t quite fit the doctors’ binary perception of what “normal female” genitals should look & behave like. No medical reasons whatsoever. My body was cut, put on display and medically violated because people with M.Ds pathologize (see last post) our beautiful healthy #nonbinary #intersex bodies.
▫️
I went back to the hospital where all of this went down and asked my best friend (& amazing Chicago movement photographer Sarah-Ji @loveandstrugglephotos) to take photos of me in front of the drive way leading into the entrance of the hospital that was then boarded up and being demolished. It was a driveway I was very familiar with as young person, a driveway that lead to the gates of a small personal hell. ▫️
Lurie Childrens hospital, and all children’s hospitals that continue performing non-consensual medical unnecessary surgeries on intersex kids, claim to “care” for us when we never needed that “care” in the first place. If you go on Lurie’s website today, they still have clitoral surgeries listed as a medical intervention for intersex babies.

End forced intersex reassignment!

Terry Crews came out and admitted he had been sexually assulted by someone in the film industry, and is now being blacklisted. I have been a fan of his since Idiocracy, and will continue to support all of his work.

So when you wonder why people don’t come forward with their assults, this is why.

Where are all the bitch men who ask about male sexual assault when the focus is on women but are dead silent when men are actually at the focus.

It’s almost as if Men’s Rights Activists don’t really care about men’s rights. Hmmm….

🤔

Yep….

This misses the really powerful piece of the story: Terry Crews was the one who chose not to do the movie. One of the producers told him, essentially, that he could either do the movie and be drop the sexual assault charges, or continue with the trial and have “troubles”. Terry dropped out because he felt standing against abusers was more important than his film career.

It’s bullshit that he was threatened in the first place, of course, but his response was ballsy. I admire him for it.

Reblog to support Terry Crews and men like him.

With MBMBaM…the conversation we had internally was like, we feel like we’re making this really dumb thing while really important stuff is happening, and we kinda felt bad about that. And then after we put that episode out, we got this flood of like, “thank you for being a distraction.” And we’re like, oh yeah, distraction’s important. We don’t have to deal with stuff to be helpful, sometimes you can just distract. And so that’s kind of always been our MO in general, just as people. If something’s going wrong and people are getting stressed out, we make jokes and we break tension…

We’ve never discussed this, but I think Justin and Griffin would agree, that you can set an example without explicitly saying, “this is a thing I’m combating” or “this is a stance I’m taking.” But rather, like, I’m going to choose to embrace this thing and talk about this thing and face this battle in a certain way, that I would hope you would understand what my position on things is. And so we talk a lot when we’re doing Amnesty especially, because it’s in our present world, in West Virginia…so for example, my character is a bisexual Puerto Rican woman. And it’s like, are we gonna make her…deal with shit? [laughs] And it’s like, noo. No, we’re not. Like, that’s not the world we wanna create and that’s not as interesting.

And when we were doing TAZ Dust…we ended up having—me and Justin and Griffin and Dad—a two-hour long conversation about, I’m gonna set up the Old West…but Dad wants to play a woman and I don’t want people to be, you know, misogynist to her, even though in the time period, they would have been. Dad wants to play an Asian woman and I’m not gonna have people use racial slurs, even though that’s what they would have done at the time. And we really went back and forth, like, are we being disingenuous by not acknowledging that this is the kind of circumstances that people would have had to deal with? But by doing that, would we be reminding people of these bad things that still happen in the world?

And so yeah, we put a lot of thought to it and we try to find a balance between not trying to pretend like there aren’t issues and not trying to pretend like everything’s okay. But also knowing that people know that there are issues and so we don’t need to constantly remind people that there are issues. It’s a tough balance to find, but we try really hard.

thought I’d transcribe the bit where he confirms Aubrey as Puerto Rican. this was a response to a question about the brothers’ decision to keep current events and politics mostly out of their podcasts.

Do companies realize that they’ll eventually run out of people who can realistically fill their demands if they keep demanding you have 3-5+ years experience at 25 and refuse to hire anything less

actually, I think what they are doing is hiring 25 year olds with 1 year of experience and using that as a way to coerce the 25 year old to accept less pay.

They post 3-5 years experience at 45,000 on the job boards. Which is the market value of the position. But not for someone who has worked in the field for 5 years who at that point in their career might demand 50,000 instead.

then when people come in with 1 year of experience *(which is really secretly all the experience that is needed for the job) they go “oohhhh so. we really like you but based on your experience level we’re going to start you at 35k? is that okay? You know, cause we could be getting someone with 5 years experience, but we really like you.”

And then the 25 year old feels lucky to get ahead and get the job in the first place so they say yes

there’s also been a surge of companies complaining they “have to” relax their hiring standards (and, yeop, lower pay) bc otherwise they can’t find candidates, so yea you’re not wrong

People have also pointed out the existence of ads requesting 8 years of experience with Swift, a programming language which has been out for about 3 years.

This is really sweet

So for my AP United States History class we have to write a research paper; my topic is the gay rights movement in America. Today I began reading one of the books that I chose as a source

image

And I opened it up to the dedication page and found this

image

And if you don’t think that’s one of the sweetest and most romantic things ever then get out of my face

Ok, for the record, the author of this book, Jonathan Rauch, is a friend of my family, I’ve known him since I was a little kid, and I am here to tell you all that he and Michael have been together for 20-odd years now, got married in 2010, and remain to this day obviously, excessively, and adorably in love.

Anyway, they’re cute. Thought y’all would want to know.

It got better!
