No. Listen.
The reason you shouldn’t donate to the Starvation Army is because they are literally not helping. They do the opposite of help. That organization is an active source of harm.

They have a history of using donations to fund their political and religious views while actively denying help to those who are LGBT or of different religions/viewpoints. A friend of mine went into their store seeking help, but was turned away for mentioning the guy with him was his boyfriend. #FuckFakeCharities
Might I suggest donating instead to: Goodwill; The Red Cross; Doctors Without Borders; Habitat for Humanity; The Trevor Project; Howard Brown Health Center; or even helping out your local food pantries?
Tove Jansson attended the Independence Day celebrations in Presidential Palace, Helsinki together with her life partner Tuulikki Pietilä in 1979. This celebration is an important tradition in Finland and the broadcast is one of the most watched shows on Finnish TV each year.
They were the first same-sex couple to ever attend this celebration. The press of the time accused the couple of disgracing the event. Keep in mind, that homosexuality was punisheable by law in Finland until 1971 and was officially listed as a disease until 1981. Even in recent years there have been those who have expressed opinions against same-sex couples attending Independence Day celebrations together.
