I’m curious, Homestucks. How many of us had webcomic habits before this fandom? What kinds of webcomics?

Reblog if there’s at least one webcomic you followed for at least six months, before you started reading Homestuck.

I had a lot, but my favorites were Digger, Gunnerkrigg Court, and Eight Bit Theater. (Of the three, GC is the only one still updating.)

Oh, god, okay, here goes.

Started with Timescapes over at Neondragonart when I was twelve, then took up Aido’s Fallen and Luka’s Kagerou (which is a helluva comic to read when you’re twelve). Read Dominic Deegan, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Better Days, and TwoKinds before they started getting annoyingly ridiculous, and past that I don’t remember the order in which I started reading. Altermeta in all three of its incarnations, Red String, Yu+Me Dream, Questionable Content, Digger, Gunnerkrigg Court, Broken Plot Device, OOTS (before I just got totally lost), Misfile since forever, Johnny Wander, Manly Guys doing Manly Things, Flaky Pastry, Girls with Slingshots, XKCD, Looking for Group, read Menage a 3 for a while until I got sick of Yuki, Starfighter, Fishbones, and of course Oglaf is perfect.

And mind you, these are the comics I read regularly (or at least did; some of them have stopped updating) and got into before I got into Homestuck.

I basically had Pi’s traejectory, only I started at 15, and I think that I started with Dominic Deegan (It’s going to end this year. I can’t believe it!), and went on to Timescapes (so sad that is was ended, but I can see why).

A little later, I started Earthsong (I have stuck with it through original art, the redux art, and still visit it on an off, but I remember thinking: Oh COOL, so all these fantastic people have been living in a state of war for their entire lives, and the writing is going to be gritty and everything is going to be horrible and sad and I will love it, and, yeah, false expectations). Inverloch was fun, and I went on to Phoenix Requiem when that was finished, and I’ve read through that.

The friend who recommended Timescapes got me interested in Two Kinds, but I haven’t read it since 2007? There was a massive update slowdown, and with the convolutions in storyline I’d probably have to re-read everything.

I can’t remember how I got into the rest but there was just a stream of webcomics. Girl Genius, No Need for Bushido, Malaak, Red String, Yu+Me Dream, Questionable Content, Digger, Gunnerkrigg Court, Clockwork Angels, Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, Flaky Pastry, Penny and Aggie,Menage a 3, Looking for Group, Oglaf, Khaos Komix (I recommend this one SO MUCH), Something Positive, Octopus Pie (haven’t kept up with this one), I loved it’s predecessor for the silliness, and wonderful explanation of polyamory, but I can’t remember the title, Run Lil’ Jared, A Distant Soil, Fey Winds (sooooo good and funny! Read it!), Fan Dan Go, Erstwhile Tales, No Rest For the Wicked, The Dreamer, Emergency Exit, Parallel Dementia, War of the Winds, Undertow, 9th Elsewhere (this one has just dropped off the map :’(), Skyfall, Cascadia (I loved this one and the artist took it down :’(), Imps of Nightmare Land, Magellan (Anyone who likes super heroes in high school, and/or good representations of women and POCs in comics should read this), Nodwick, PS-238, Crossover Kill, Bad Guy High, Jauthurr (I also started Gatecrash, but this is one of those deep storyline storys, and I wanted it to finish so I could follow everything rather than depend on updates), Wooden Rose, Planes of Eldor, The Meek, Roza series and the lovely anthro high school series the author did… Good Cheese? I forget the title, White Noise, Shades of Gray, Doomsday, My Dear, Namesake, and some others, but I can’t remember all of them, I’ve been a webcomic reader nearly 10 years now. ^^;

Gosh, maybe I should go out and find all the links.
