OKAY FOLKS HERE’S THE SITCH

The Wife and I have been trying to become moms for over six years. Horrible, depressing, frustrating struggle. Why? I have PCOS and a blocked right Fallopian tube (that x ray up there is yours truly during a very painful second HSG). We were lied to for four of those years by a doctor who chose to not diagnose me with PCOS despite obvious signs and offered only one solution out of over a dozen I later learned of. The only reason we can think of for his neglect was homophobia since we are a same-sex couple.

THE GOOD NEWS

I am now being assisted by a wonderful fertility clinic. They are going to unblock my fallopian tube finally and have a plan to do an intrauterine insemination (IUI) with the help of fertility medication. This is our last option and we are so willing and eager to try an IUI.

THE BAD NEWS

Our insurance will not cover a single cent related to the procedure. The longer I am forced to wait the weakened fertility shrinks. This is still a viable option for me, but I do not know when that window will close forever.

OKAY, AND?

I’m asking for your help. I would deeply appreciate if you, dear Tumblrer, would consider helping my wife and I make a tiny, nerdy mini fan of our dreams through a donation. There are even perks available, which I plan to add more to as well!!! Regardless, a dollar or even a reblog would mean a great deal to me.

ENDS CHRISTMAS, DECEMBER 25TH – 90 DAYS!!!

YOU’RE THE BEE’S KNEES, CUTIE! THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!

I’m so, so sorry I have to post this.

My name is Rio, and I recently lost my job. After my dad passed away my anxiety and depression negatively impacted my work performance to the point where I was let go. Their reasoning for letting me go was that as I had broken a mirror (by accident at that), I had damaged company property, and after being suspended for 72 hours I was terminated.

I originally signed a promissory note to pay back the cost of the mirror ($75). Today I received a letter with a demand to pay an additional $300 for the cost of their ‘investigation’ (because according to them that’s how much it costs to review security footage of a mirror being knocked over). I called their lawyers along with corporate, and neither are willing to waive the fee.

I have no idea how to come up with the money for this. I barely have next month’s rent (which is over $400) in my bank account (and that’s not including utilities), and once that’s gone I won’t be able to live at my apartment. In turn, the rent will hike for my room mates and they’ll have to leave to.

The only place I have left to go is back to my grandmother’s house, and she’s verbally abusive. My mom and brother live there too, and they’re addicts on top of being abusive themselves. Unsurprisingly, none of them accept my identity.

If anyone could give so little as $5, or even just reblog this post, I would be appreciative beyond words.

For those that are able to help, my paypal is ernymann@gmail.com

hi guys Rio is a very dear friend to me and an absolutely wonderful person if anyone could help lend them a hand i would be very very grateful!!!

…and it’s true too.

I just always reblog this story too. Because it’s awesome. And because obviously Boggs is the kind of person that should be well known, and become a role model. (And Chris Garcia, Boggs’s friend who rode as well!)

Also, I wanted to note that there’s a scholarship fund for the two boys set up. You can donate here!: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/reward-the-heroes-scholarship-fund-temar-boggs-and-chris-garcia

Reblogging for scholarship information

The scholarship fund is currently at $15k, but we know that even now that’s a pittance compared to the actual cost of higher ed. And it doesn’t look like costs are going to be coming down, unfortunately.

Please donate if you can, and signal boost the heck outta this.

You won’t believe why Costa Rica is being sued for $1 billion

This is fucking important! Sign and reblog.

wow this is outrageous, why isn’t this going around? from the link:

Infinito Gold, a Canadian mining company, just slapped Costa Rica with a $1 billion lawsuit simply because the country decided its rainforests were more important than an open-pit gold mine.

Lauded as one of the countries with the most beautiful rainforests, it’s no wonder Costa Rica rejected Infinito’s mine. Costa Rica’s rainforest is home to many endangered species such the green macaw. Gold mining also uses toxic chemicals such as cyanide, which often leaks into and pollutes nearby lakes and rivers.

A subsidiary of Infinito Gold has announced that a massive lawsuit is “imminent”, so we need to act now. If thousands of us stand together, we can show Infinito that countries such as Costa Rica should have the right to protect their rainforests without being persecuted by corporations.

please sign and reblog!

It’s bad enough that people believe corporate interests override human rights, but Nation States, difficult as they are to endorse, are the Primary vehicles for protecting human rights, environmental rights, rule of law, and so forth. This company needs to get smacked the heck down.

I’ve been working on a game for a while called Dead Century. It’s sort of an Indiana-Jonesy adventure Puzzle/RPG concoction. I think it’s clear to everyone at this point that women, people of color, and queer people of all sorts are represented pretty poorly in modern video games. To that end, I’m making an effort to “be the change” I want to see. The biggest example being that the player can choose from three different appearances for each of their characters, each with a different gender and ethnic background. It’s mostly a cosmetic difference but it’s my little contribution to what I hope will soon become a larger thing in the video game world. Oh there are also some gay kisses and badass ladies.

Anyway, if that sounds like a good idea, you can check it out here or just retumbl, which is free!

Dear humans, please help Kickstart my friend’s queer inclusive (among many other things) video game! Be the change and show the world that there is a demand for games that are inclusive!

this looks awesome!

Called ‘The biggest ongoing disaster in the United States you haven’t heard of’ by Daily Kos, this is something that is actually happening, within an hour’s driving distance of where I live. There is a sinkhole in Bayou Corne that has been severely agitated by the activities of fossil fuel magnate Texas Brine, operating with “supervision” of the Jindal administration.

The sinkhole has been active for a year at this point. How long did it take Jindal to visit the site? Seven months. This went on for seven months before our right-wing governor, a man so insane he claims to have assisted in the exorcism of a demon, could deign to visit, because “only” 350 people live there, and, being poor, they have nothing to offer him. In fact, if you read that article, you may have noticed this:

Jindal’s visit comes 10 days after California based environmentalist Erin Brockovich visited residents at Bayou Corne with California based attorney Tom Girardi. Girardi has offered his legal services to any resident who decides to take further action against Texas Brine and all parties responsible for their troubles over the past seven months.

Yep, you read that correctly. Jindal didn’t give a single fuck about the 350 people living over a sinkhole that threatens to swallow them whole until an out-of-state lawyer appeared to assist them in getting help and reparations for their losses.

Spread the word. Please.
