Heinoustuck Music Contest Entry- Asylum

So it’s not a song for a heinous character per se, but for pre-transmutation John. Like, I imagine he’d play the piano to cope with with the rapidly approaching transmutation day and it would be pretty dreary and melancholy… so with Doctor in mind, I made this.

Basically this is how I break it down:

The first part is his piano playing, occupying and distracting himself

The first instant of bass is heartbeat

The quickening is his fantasy of escaping from getting transmuted

The part which alters between slow and speed is internal conflict. Like, could it even be possible to escape? His dad would probably catch him trying to sneak out… but what if he managed to evade him?

Ultimately… he’s not really sure what to do.
