IMLO (in my lesbian opinion) arguing that there’s no way to “dress gay” isn’t really that progressive. Literally almost every gay person I know does something outwardly gay with their appearance because it’s 1. empowering and 2. a really good way to meet other gay people! I get wanting to ~fight stereotypes~ but there’s a big difference between stereotypes like “gay men are predators” and “lesbians love flannel”
“Not every girl with short hair is a lesbian” pretty much everyone that says something like this is heterosexual and doesn’t want to be mistaken for a lesbian because they are actually homophobic, and that’s the tea.
LITERALLY MY MOM THANK U
I don’t agree with this. There are lots of men and women who don’t “look gay” but are. There are also lots of cishet men and women who do “look gay” but aren’t. There’s no way to “look gay” outside of being caught with the genitalia of the same sex in your mouth. Clothing and style are not a determination of someone’s sexuality (or gender, for that matter).
Listen. I get that not everyone fits every stereotype in the book, I really do. But you’re really sitting here and denying the existence of gay culture (including fashion) and trying to pass it off as an intellectual take and that’s pretty dense. Flagging is huge in conservative areas where being openly gay isn’t acceptable and it’s entirely based on the concrete reality of gay fashion and culture. I get that you think you’re being woke or whatever but try some critical thinking sometime
Honestly throw back to this This was the peak of tumblr

Is this real
Can I get a tumblr history lesson
Tumblr history lesson coming up
alright so its May 30th 2015, and this blog appears out of the blue. It’s a self-proclaimed REAL SJW blog, only they made a point of hating ‘special snowflakes’ aka any gender or sexuality that were not one of the well-known ones.
They all take the persona of a Sonic character, and at the time of the blog’s creation there were 6: Mods Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Tikal, Tails….and Silver. The blog hadn’t been active for 24 hours before Mod Silver allegedly closed the ask box. As you can see from the rules page at the time, this was a clear violation of the rules:
The other mods were displeased, in particular Mod Amy who ignored his stated reasons for doing so and furiously demanded that he contact her on skype.
Mod Silver was promptly removed from the blog for his first offence, however not before the blog’s followers took note of another rule on the list: Be kind to Mod Silver.
The tumblr masses became angry at Mod Amy’s hypocrisy and called for her to be removed from the blog, starting the trends #IStandWithModSilver and #DownWithModAmy. She responded by saying she had done nothing wrong by disobeying the Mod Silver rule as the rules had been updated after his removal:
This only made Mod Silver sympathizers angrier, increasing the pressure on Mod Amy. The whole thing upset Mods Tails and Tikal greatly, with Mod Tails trying to stand up for Mod Silver and Mod Tikal refusing to pick a side.
At the end of the day, the blog had 10,000 followers, and both Mod Amy and Mod Sonic confirmed that Mod Silver was gone for good.
BUT WE AREN’T DONE.
The very next day, Mod Tails resigned after alleged harassment by Mod Amy. Mod Sonic then revealed that he and Mod Amy had been dating in secret. Mod Knuckles was recruited, hoping to be a peacemaker of sorts, and became the only Mod with the authority to change the rules. Later the same day, Mod Tikal was banned from the blog after labeling herself a demigirl, which violated the ‘special snowflake’ rule:
On June 1st, Mod Sally joined the blog, but it simply made things worse as Mod Amy immediately suspected that Mod Sonic might have feelings for them. This caused an argument between the three, with Mod Shadow helping to stir up dust by making posts about Mod Sonic’s supposed crush. Knowing he was likely going to be banned, Mod Shadow then made his final post:
Mod Sonic replied the next day confirming Mod Shadow’s removal. He then changed his name to Mod Super Sonic, and removed Mod Knuckles from the Mod List without warning for a violation of the rules (debated below):
After which Mod Sally resigned, unwilling to put up with all the drama. Mod Amy was then unexpectedly banned by Mod Sonic, who had once again changed his name:
Mod Sonic was now the only Mod left, and nobody knew what he would do next. The answer turned out to be… nothing, as 6 days of inactivity was a violation of the rules, and he left the blog. The story get less interesting from here.
Mods Silver and Shadow returned to the blog alongside new Mods Blaze, Classic Sonic, and Classic Amy (both of which claimed not to be the originals). After a kerfuffle involving Mod Shadow claiming that Mod Silver encouraged hate of Mod Amy (which he then took back), Mods Classic Sonic and Classic Amy were removed for inactivity.
FAST FORWARD TO AUGUST 2016, Mod Shadow became angry when a new Mod refused to pick a Sonic character for the blog, instead choosing Nagito Komaeda from Dangan Ronpa 2. They began arguing immediately:
Since then, the blog has changed its theme to include Dangan Ronpa characters rather than Sonic ones, thought their URL remains the same. PLEASE look up screenshots, there are way more than the ones I included, but this post is long enough already. So ends the tale of Sonic For Real Justice, as I remember it
Hey non-Texans, you may not be able to vote for Beto, but you CAN support his campaign. Cruz is running on super PAC money, Beto is not. Consider making a donation to Beto’s campaign here
To donate you just have to be 18 or older, and a US citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
If that’s not you or you don’t have the funds to spare, you can still support progressive candidates by knocking on doors, volunteering, and helping get out the vote!
one thing some leftists near me were doing regarding the voting question that I thought was really rad was voluntarily “giving” their vote to someone who didn’t have the legal right to vote. For example, they’d chat with someone imprisoned or someone previously convicted of a felony who lost voting rights about who they supported or would vote for, and then on Election Day they’d fill out their ballot accordingly.
I thought it was a really useful/practical take on politically consciously choosing not to vote, while simultaneously helping to get voting rights for those who are systematically denied them.
anyway, midterms are coming up, and if you can’t in good conscience vote- that might be a strategy to consider
So, I’m going to get personal. Quite personal. I don’t normally make a big thing of this but:
I remember spending so much time as a child struggling with the simple act of pouring a glass of pop from a two liter bottle. It wasn’t because I couldn’t lift it. It was because my brain couldn’t, wouldn’t tell me when I actually had the neck of the bottle above the glass. I remember tears of frustration and the determination to complete what is, for most people, a simple task.
I remember the hours I spent performing the simple task of throwing a ball against a wall, over and over and over until I could actually tell where it was in relation to my hands.
I remember despite that always being chosen last for PE. I couldn’t catch a ball unless it was in that predictable pattern. Much of the time, I still can’t. If you toss me something, chances are I will close my hands somewhere it isn’t and it will fall to the floor.
“Butterfingers.” That’s what they called me on the playground. “Butterfingers.” The teasing. The bullying, because to everyone else it was easy. The knowledge there was something wrong with me. We didn’t have a fancy term for it in 70s and 80s Britain.
But there was something wrong with me. Was and is. Most people don’t notice. I don’t ask for any kind of special treatment and I can pour you a bottle of wine as long as I concentrate on the task. I couldn’t keep bar, because I would never be fast enough, but I manage. I manage because I don’t want people to treat me differently. Because “butterfingers” is often better than “disabled.”
I just got finished watching the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who. And yes, perhaps the best line in it was “Does it suit me?”
But for me, the line that made me want to jump out of my seat and squee was “He has dyspraxia.”
Because I have dyspraxia. And it’s not fun. And there are kids even now growing up with that “butterfingers” epithet. “He can’t ride a bike.” (I can, but it took me a bit longer to learn).
I’m 45 years old, and for the first time, I hear the words on TV about a fictional character “He has dyspraxia.”
As I said, this is something I keep quiet. But I’m looking at the character of Ryan Sinclair and going. You know what?
I have dyspraxia.
And Chris Chibnall and Toisin Cole just gave all the kids out there who can’t pour into a glass, who’s brain just won’t make that coordination, who are frustrated to tears by video games…
He just gave us OUR Companion. He gave us our hero.
And yes, I just looked up. Somebody has put a list of Dyspraxic Characters.
Under Potential Dyspraxic Characters there is a list. It’s a short one.
Under Confirmed Dyspraxic Characters it says a very sad “None to report yet.” (which will be fixed, I believe, when the writer of that blog goes through the episode).
I don’t know if Ryan Sinclair is the first explicitly dyspraxic character on TV. But he could be.
And I’m willing to speak out to make sure that Chris Chibnall and Toisin Cole know just how much that means. How much it would have meant to me when struggling to learn to ride a bike to see a character with those issues climbing a crane. Being a hero.
THANK you Doctor Who team. From me and from all the “butterfingers” kids out there.
And in a shocking twist, Elon Musk has not kept his word on helping Flint residents afford water filters
You know what? I have a lot of followers. If I could get a list of contacts for people who need filters I bet I could wrangle enough donations to pay for them
Okay! I have a plan! Here is the link to the Flint Water Fund by United Way: bit.ly/FlintStrong
It 100% goes towards buying bottled water for residents. The government has cut off aid to us and these charities are all we have.
I do have one request though! On the page provided it asks for your affiliation (if you have one) and if you guys could put ‘kaijuno’ in that box, it will help me know how much money you guys have raised!
Reblog this with a series of three pictures, pictures you feel convey the vibe of the post-capitalist future you personally envision.
The full implementation of human ingenuity without the barricade of profit motive. The city and nature do not have to be in conflict.
The extreme waste and social atomization brought by suburbs would be replaced by more efficient and pro-community alternatives. Not everyone should have to live in a city, but no one should have to settle for suburbs.
The common sovereignty of resources would promote the most ethical and comfortable standard of living for everyone. Why have a wealthy few when you can have a prosperous everyone?
if this society provides basic income for everyone, people wouldn’t need to struggle for 80+ hours to get by. this is the biggest and most important change I would make and would be the basis from which I’d build up a new society
This is called socialism and people would not have incentive to work or strive to succeed. Don’t believe this crap it’s make believe fairy tale shit that would never work in a country as big as the US. People need motivation.
So there are no such thing as volunteers? People don’t clean up after themselves at home? Absolutely no hobbies?
And “would never work in a country as large as the US.” ignores how economies tend to be proportional. With our net wealth and the history of leftists globally (you know, US backed coup after US backed coup, paired with the occasional economic war like in Cuba, Venezuela, and N. Korea), the US arguably has the best chance at success.
Nope, no hobbies. Without capitalism and the economic coercion of minimum-wage labor, people would just sit around rotting like a bunch of lazy sloths. The only reason I enjoy anything is because capitalist media conditioned my mind to enjoy things.
🙏 Praise the market 🙏 Praise the motivation hierarchy 🙏 Praise CEOs getting obscenely wealthy through the sweat and blood of the most vulnerable 🙏 Praise countless hours of pointless wage labor that fills the pockets of the rich while billions can’t make ends meet 🙏 Praise the enormous potential of automation going to waste as people are rendered poorer in the face of greater productivity and abundance 🙏
👍 Such efficiency 👍 Such rationality 👍 Such freedom for the individual 👍
I like that capitalists assume the only motivation to do literally anything is making money. Like, how fucking stupid do you have to be to think that money is the only motivation to do something?
Like, yeah, no shit money is a motivating factor in a capitalist society as it’s the only way to ensure you don’t fucking starve to death. But what about literally everything else that is done outside the monetary motivation? Everything from volunteer work to hobbies?
Weird how those things get ignored.
Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world, can never use all of the money he has, and STILL goes to work every day and makes more. Your own capitalist idols disprove those theories about money being the sole motivatig factor for work.
