if you think that being able to apply a scary buzzword to somebody or something on the internet you don’t like is more important than the ability to actually keep people safe, i don’t care to argue with you.
because of tumblr i legitimately do not know when someone accused of being a “pedophile” actually has harmed a child or even thinks about harming a child; it’s just as likely they have a three-year age gap in their relationship, or that they’re an adult who has ever spoken to a child before.
because of tumblr i legitimately do not know when someone says “child porn” if they mean actual child pornography or if they mean “steven/connie ship fic”.
that’s not great, folks. i need to be able to tell what you mean when you say things like that. people at risk need to be able to tell what you mean when you say things like that. don’t just throw them around to add legitimacy to your fanfiction wank.
i’m not saying don’t have the wank. if you feel strongly about something i encourage you to fight for what you believe. but you can argue over whether something is a Bad Ship without implicitly accusing someone of a crime
