There needs to be less confronting fascists out in the open @ marches (where there are a zillion police and cameras and livestreamers) and more beating the shit out of them after dark when they’ve split and are going to their cars/buses/train stations. Pick the battles you have a better chance at winning and not getting needlessly arrested for.

i almost wrote the same thing just now.

it’s heavily influenced by the culture of martyrism and spectacle

i think dr. bones wrote about how fighting in Berkeley has already become ritualized and meaningless. pretty soon it will be a local holiday and they will sell t-shirts.

if fascists are gathering in public, they are almost definitely also meeting in private.

a strategic victory is better than a victory by force – instead of fighting fascists in the open, it is better to sabotage their plans before they even gather. gather information, infiltrate, disrupt. or, use force on smaller scales to break apart their groups before they can grow. Berkeley is demonstrating that large public confrontations can work against us and cause greater losses than smaller, more strategic actions.

this is basic combative strategy that should be known by anyone confronting fascism. the left today has shit strategy – we should all be reading The Art of War and other basic strategy guides. if you want to take yourself seriously, you can’t just run around aimlessly with a bat and a mask hoping for a massive fight. the massive fight is the last resort, the real goal is to prevent it entirely.
