When I heard Elizabeth Warren voted to confirm Ben Carson for HUD, I didn’t go into hysterical “SHE BETRAYED US!!!” dramatics, but I was concerned. Still, she’s smart, she’s been smart for longer than I’ve been alive, and I figured she had her reasons.

Whether you agree with her reasons or not, the fact that she decided to discuss them with the public is the accountability I want from our politicians, the kind of accountability we will never see from anyone in this administration. You can say that all of the Democrats in the Senate should hold up Trump’s nominations, but we don’t have the numbers to stop them, and if Carson, idiot that he is, seems interested in learning about the position and genuinely seeks to help, then that’s about as good as we can hope for in the coming administration.

We’re not going to get *any* of the cabinet we want. The alternative is, what, leaving Trump’s cabinet empty for the next four years? We’re going to have to pick our battles, and Ben Carson is one I’m willing to lose.
