dontneedyourheroact:

Right from the beginning, Cullen wants you to go to the Templars, because the mages power might destroy us all. So Cullen rants about going to the templars and when Leliana shuts him down, he almost proudly states that he was a templar and knows what they are capable of. Though I don’t buy that the Templars would be able to suppress the Breach at all. Its unknown magic made by unknown mages. Sure, the game shows us that they can, but that seems like a conveinient plor device. But that’s a rant for another time and has nothing to do with Cullen.

When you decide to do the mage quest, Cullen tells you to “give up this nonsense and go get the Templars.” After talking about the quest some more, he again brings up getting the Templars instead. If you do the mage quest and make the mages free allies, Cullen throws a bitch fit and demands we retract the offer. Because “there will be abominations among the mages” even though we never see one. He yells at the Inquisitor and is told off by both Cassandra and Josephine.

When asked about the future for mages and templars, he says that he still thinks the circles are needed. But that maybe they should be more lenient. Considering that this guy thought the Ferelden Circle was an example of Templars trust and leniency, I shudder to think what his ideal Circle would be like.

If you romance him as a mage, the Inquisitor can coddle him and ask how he can not see the evil in her, since he has “seen the worst of what mages has to offer.” To which, Cullen all but replies “you’re different for a mage.” The fact that the Inquisitor might be a Circle mage herself, this question becomes extra disgusting. Add the fact that Cullen lacks the insight to wonder if his lady love might have a problem with being with a templar from one of the worst circles in Thedas. The Cullen romance with a mage is all about coddling Cullen and protecting his poor little feelings.

If you recruit the Avvar mage, he wants to lock her in a room with a Templar.

And this is the guy fans claim has “drastically changed” his view on mages? It sounds exactly the same to me and the only reason he behaves is because he is not the one in control. Playing chess with Dorian doesn’t count as character growth. Saying that he “treated mages with mistrust” is not character growth when his crimes are worse than that. Blaming Meredith or his lyrium addiction is not character growth.

This guy never once has a moment of “I fucked up and I will do better”. He has one stray comment on how the Inquisition is his chance to atone, but he never states what he needs atonement for. Treating mages with mistrust? He never once have to suffer the consequences of his actions. He gets to walk away with a clean slate and his fans love him for it.

Its clear that Bioware realized this guy ridiculous popularity and is now grooming him to be Alistair 2.0. Next we’ll hear how he is distantly related to some King and has dragon blood. Because Cullen is their new poster boy. The fact that they joined in on the useless Cullen positivety week while ignoring evey other character just proves that.

THANK U FOR UNDERSTANDING ANONYMOUS

honestly he does have character growth, NEGATIVE character growth. in origins he claims to not enjoy hunting mages and says he does his duty with a heavy heart or whatever. granted he says this to a female mage he as feelings for so he might be buttering up to her but…at this point he doesn’t try to argue to her that mages are all horrible and shes an exception. he just seems to imply that mages are alright. all in all in origins he seems like a pretty nice guy.

what happened Cullen….
