Y’know it’s weird, but being able to post about things I do on Facebook actually motivates me to do things sometimes when nothing else seems to work. Certainly I did plenty of things before Facebook–in those elementary/middle school years, I taught myself basic web design, learned how to draw birds, made collages, learned photography, wrote poetry and short stories, planted gardens, did ballet and horseback riding, made crafts, took long walks and bike rides, baked cakes–but that was all before depression.

Sometimes I can’t really be happy in the moment, but I can be happy when other people like (and, yes, Facebook-like) the things I do and feel happy *for me*. And you could write this off as I Just Need People’s Approval And For Them To Like My Facebook Posts Wow How Pathetic, but practically speaking, it gets me out of bed and/or out of the house and doing things that are healthy and ultimately beneficial for me, like cooking and taking walks and whatever. If Facebook is what it takes, then Facebook is what it takes. And if Facebook is ever gone or no longer effective, then I will find something else, because that’s what I’ve always done.

let’s all pretend to have awesome lifes and live on a soulless dynamic of attention whoring with no real purpose to it.

wow that was super kind, thanks

what a fucking asshole

HUMANS ARE SOCIAL CREATURES. CRAVING ATTENTION IS NORMAL AND HEALTHY.

but let’s all pretend that people don’t need to be told by others that they’re noticed and instead live empty soulless lives free from warmth or candor for our fellow humans :^)

@captainzana you’re a mean spirited person and you should feel ashamed.
