i’m still jealous because i’ve got long, jet black hair that i want to fully dye to purple but when i told that to them at the barbershop, they kinda snickered behind my back. you’re hella lucky for having short, blond hair ;^;;
bleach that shit and pick up a bottle of colorjamz. only costs 6.50/bottle and you can dye your hair at home. it was my first time dying my hair and i wasn’t expecting the colour to be so vivid, but this shit is amazing. the friend who did it for me has violet hair right now using the same kind of dye.
i don’t know anything about bleaching though but we picked up a little packet for next time called quick blue. when the red fades i want to bleach it and go blue. 😀
I’ve used Quick Blue! It’s pretty good stuff. Get a 40-volume developer, and be gentle with it. If it starts to burn your scalp, wash it out. You may not get your hair driven-snow white (if you’re bleaching from black, it may end up orangeish), but dark, vibrant purples can cover yellows pretty okay!
fritti-tailchaser: More hair dyeing advice from someone with ridiculous hair! YMMV with Colorjamz, it washes out of my hair REALLY fast. I died my hair with their magenta and it only lasted about a week before fading to bubblegum pink. Manic Panic works better for me, especially with purples (that can fade pretty quickly in any case). On the other hand, it’s worth trying for $6.00, and if it works it saves you a few bucks on Manic Panic (which usually goes for $10-13).
Get a dye cap, or buy a bleach kit (they come with one), make sure you’ve rinsed any bleach out of it, stuff your purple-glopped hair under it, and have someone who loves you gently toast your head with a hair dryer for about 20-30 minutes. It’ll help the dye set better! Also, Manic Panic and ColorJamz and their ilk are stains, not chemical dyes, and don’t damage your hair. The longer you leave them in, the more vibrant the color! I’ll put a junky towel down on my pillows and sequester my hair in plastic and leave it on overnight.

the only hair dyes ive used are manic panic and splat. if anyone wants pinkish hair like mine bleach the shit out of your hair then use purple manic panic and it’ll fade out in like a week but it will fade out into this neat shade of pink that ive had for like 8 months now lol
