Reblogging because I’ve never seen a more accurate picture of these.

I THOUGHT THESE WERE THE THINGS IN MY EYES AND I WAS FREAKING OUT BECUASE FUCK THEY WERE MOVING BY THEMSELVES AND THEN IT HIT ME

SERIOSULY THOUGH LIKE WHAT ACTUALLY ARE THESE DOES ANYBODY EVEN KNOW LIKe I GET THEM ALL THE TIME STARING AT THE SKY ON CAR JOURNEYS AND THEY BEHAVE EXACTLY LIKE THAT BUT W HAT A RE TH EY??

these are actually INSIDE your eyes! i believe that its some parts of the watery stuff in our eyes forms these as we get older? im not 100% sure

Basically your eye jelly has proteins in it and as you get older little bits of that protein go rogue and become the squiggly little floaters. They’re usually perfectly benign.

Although if you suddenly have a butt-ton more than usual (not just ‘you have a lot’ but you ‘suddenly have a whole bunch more’) and your vision is flashing get thee to an opthamologist because that can be a symptom of retinal detachment which is just as bad-news as it sounds!

there we go! Science babe Pi to the rescue with less vague explanations then i could provide
