hello! i use a bamboo too! tablets are really great for digital art. they allow you to use all of the great features that you have access too in digital art programs while still having pen pressure.
make sure that your tablet is properly calibrated to your computer and the program(ex. Photoshop, etc.) you’re using (this means having the proper drivers, all of your pen settings as you need them, and your program’s settings able to recognize things such as pen pressure, etc.)
if all the technological aspects of your tablet are as they should be then all i can say is practice! i know when i first started using a tablet it was a bit hard for me to get used to. what I did is that I would draw the sketch first in pencil and then scan it and line it digitally. eventually i got comfortable enough with my tablet that i could sketch digitally as well and i could cut out the pencil sketch phase. if sketching digitally is too hard for you at first then you might want to try this too 🙂
also! unlike with traditional medium, you cant really turn your tablet as you draw without things getting funky. many programs allow you to turn or rotate the canvas that you are working with though, so that can be easily used to get around this issue.
haha this got a bit long..
tl,dr: make sure that all your software is running as needed and then just practice! if its taking some getting used to at first try use a combination of traditional and digital drawing to get used to it! there may be some awkwardness with having to keep your tablet straight but most programs give you ways to work around this.
so have fun with your tablet and have fun!!! and good luck 🙂
